First of all I would like to let you know that I have already read this novel. And as I was reading the lines or the story, it does not leave a big question to my faith. I just want to give my opinion to this novel
The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown’s controversial novel has been debate and popular topic for a long time now even after it was released in public. His novel revealed some ancient mysteries and greatly disturbed the Church and the people. But I was just wondering are these ancient mysteries factual or just plain fiction?
For me the novel is clearly fiction. Yet, this novel makes us question about the contents in the Sacred Scriptures and what we believe in. In the novel, the Holy Grail is not a chalice, but a woman named Mary Magdalene and who is said to be the wife of Jesus. The book also stated that he documents discovered by he crusaders were about the existence of the bloodline and that the Knights Templar was organized to keep the secret.
Dan Brown is a great author; there is no doubt on it. With his book, he made people even more interested about solving these mysteries. The solution itself is possibly connected to the location of the Holy Grail and to a mysterious society called Priory of Sion and the Knights of Templar.
With that, I makes us raise a question to ourselves, what does this book aim to do? Is it just for plain entertainmen or does this have other intentions? Many scholars have criticized this book. Even if the book is purely fiction, one cannot help but believe much of it.
Dan Brown does not insist that you believe him. In fact as what I have heard from my cousins, Dan Brown was apologetic about how strange and unusual his conclusions may sound. However, he warns the readers that everyone can believe what they want to believe in.
The contents of the novel remain a mystery, whether it is true or not. But in a way, it did something to its readers. It challenges our faith and beliefs. It is just up to us if we will agree to Dan Brown’s story or to stick to what the Sacred Scriptures say. It is up to us to be moved or to remain unmoved.

what do you think is this thing?
well, it is a poem. A very odd one. Just by looking at it you cannot understand it directly.
the words are l(a leaf falls)oneliness.
my interpretation on this poem is so simple. when a leaf falls, there is loneliness that is experience. It is because falling means being lonely. the leaf falls maybe because the wind blew it off or it grew tired holding on to the tree.
One learningsi have come up with this is nobody wants to be alone. Everyone needs someone to where they can lean on and share their problems with.
Bing lonely is not easy. you feel like all the problems in the world are behind your back.
So, try not to be lonely and learn to enjoy life.

the Look
The Look
Strephon kissed me in the spring,
Robin in the fall,
But Colin only looked at me
And never kissed at all.
Strephon’s kiss was lost in jest,
Robin’s lost in play,
But the kiss in Colin’s eyes
Haunts me night and day.
Robin in the fall,
But Colin only looked at me
And never kissed at all.
Strephon’s kiss was lost in jest,
Robin’s lost in play,
But the kiss in Colin’s eyes
Haunts me night and day.
The poem is just short right? But it means a lot. There is a meaning lying behind this poem by Sara Teasdale.
My interpretation on the poem was about a girl who had different boys in her past. It talks about the memories that were left by the boys she had. She had different relationships during her past and it was on different seasons which mean that it was changing.
Let us go first to Strephon. Maybe Strephon was her first boyfriend or love. Her relationship with this guy did not last because it was not at the right time. One memory that was left by Strephon was the kiss. But the kiss was just lost in the girl’s memory.
The next guy was Robin. He kissed the girl but it had not left anything towards the girl. He was just like Strephon.
And then came Colin. He did not kiss the girl but he only looked at the girl. The looked on Collin’s eyes left a big impact on the girl’s life. The kiss in Colin’s eyes haunts the girl day and night. But we cannot say that the man also likes her. There are two possibilities with the look on Colin’s eyes. It can be that he likes the girl or he does not like her at all.
Why is the poem talking about the kiss and the look. These are two different things but we can associate these two things with the word love. The kiss symbolizes the word love. The look for me is a non verbal communication based on our class in public speaking. I can say that looking is one way to show that you love the person. The expression on the eyes can help you distinguish the emotions of that person. Loving is not just on physical attractions and verbal words.
After reading and analyzing the poem, I have some realizations on it. I learned that we should show to the person we loved how much we cared and loved them. we should take all the opportunity to show them what we feel. If we will hide it, time will come that we will regret hiding it.

Blog Project
What is a blog? A blog is an online diary and journal. In this kind of thing, you can express or tell to world what you feel on things. You can let the world know what had happened to you recently.
I had first learned about this blog thing from friendster. Friendster is an online connection with different kinds of persons. I still do not know how to go about this blog.
Until our teacher in English, told us that he will require us to make our own blogspot. This is a sort of a project and of course, this is graded. Knowing about this blog project made most of us excited. We are very excited to post certain topics of our own choice. But when he said that it is a five-entry per week with a minimum of 500 words, we all got discouraged and scared. I can say scared that we cannot comply with those requisites on the blog entries knowing that we have a very busy schedule. We cannot do anything but to be more diligent in making the blog entries.
After my series of entries in the blog project, I have learned different skills. Associating it with computer, I have improved my typing skills a lot. I also improved browsing the Internet for searching different sites. In English terms, I definitely enhanced many things. I have improved in my grammar. Not just that! I learned the proper way in expressing my thoughts. Generally, the blog project involved improving my computer and communication skills.
However, I have met some difficulties in doing the blog project. One is financial capability is sometimes not enough. I overcome this by doing drafts on my entry so that I can save time in the Internet café and I can pay less. One difficulty is the Internet connection is sometimes so slow. Which made me stay long in the Internet café.
Despite all those difficulties, doing the blog project made me learned and improved my skills. Having the blog project is enjoying because you can show and express your comments on the blog entries of your classmates. I hope that this will continue because this makes the students have fun and at the same time learn things.

Retreat 2007
One of the unforgettable events I will surely treasure in my stay in the University of the Philippines was the experience of the retreat. It was my first time to attend or join a retreat because I have only experience recollection during my elementary years. That is why I was very excited to have a retreat with my batch mates.
Retreat, during the old times means to step back in war. Retreat means to reflect and repent on the things or deeds you have done. It was the opportunity of the batch to be in a reflection period.
The place where we will have the retreat was at St. John Monastery in Banawa Hills, Cebu City. March 24-25, 2007 was the days of our retreat. On the morning of March 24, we had the first activity at the Tan room because our schedule to go to St. John was 1:00 p.m.
Our first activity was predicting outcomes. It tests us on how we will faces different challenges after graduation in high school. It was not that fun but at least I have learned something. I enjoyed the second activity that is called the plus delta. In this activity, half of he population of the students will just sit down and close their eyes while the second half will tell the person in front of them all the good things they see in that person. During this activity, most of my classmates cried maybe because of the messages and encouraging words given by our fellow classmates.
1:00 p.m. came and it was the time to go o St. John Monastery. We rented three 12L jitneys to be used as our transportation in going there. When we arrive at the place, tae place was a very solemn and silent one. Obviously, it is because nuns and priests occupy that place. The girls and boys have different sleeping quarters. Fortunately, the room where we will sleep was just occupied by all members of the barkada.
We had several games and talk regarding on how to love our self. From that activity, I have learned that we should be thankful to God for giving such gift to us, our own unique self. Before eating our dinner, we had an adoration time at the chapel. Thi gave us the time to talk to God. After that, we had the confession to help us also prepare during the time of lent. During dinnertime, the food was not enough for all of us because some of my classmates did not follow the rules regarding on the number of food that will get.
The last activity, which is called the Circle of Love, was one of the activities I like best. Each of us was given a candle and with that candle, we will give it to the person to whom we think we hurt so much and to say sorry or to ask for forgiveness to that person.
I choose to give candles to Juna and to Ralph. I gave it to Juna because I know I did hurt her feelings when we were still having a conflict regarding on matters concerning our love life. I gave the other one to Ralph because I know that sometimes I become selfish regarding on our relationship. It was almost 11:00 p.m. when the activity was over. After that, we went to our respective rooms and went to sleep.
March 25, 2007 was the last day of our retreat. We had a mass and only few parents were there. We all want to extend the retreat because it was not just a reflection period but it was also the time that we had bonding with the batch. but we cannot do anything because it was the schedule.
Even if the trip was tiring for all of us, I know that we all enjoyed the said event because it helped us in becoming better persons in the future.

The Effects of Different Surfaces on the Acceleration of a Toy Car
Transportation is very essential to each person’s life. Transporting goods and people are the main uses of transportation. Everyday we encounter different transportation vehicles. These vehicles do not run on one kind of surface only. The roads and tracks where automobiles run are not of the same kind. Sometimes automobiles have to run along a concrete, asphalt, or grassy track. Automobiles run on different kinds of surfaces. These surfaces have different friction force. Friction is the force that acts between two objects in contact because of the action-reaction phenomenon. According to Ron Kurtus (2005), the rolling friction of the tire is slightly affected by the static friction of the rubber on the pavement and the adhesion effect on the motion of the wheels.
Our research studies the effects of different surfaces on the acceleration of the toy car. This research used a toy car as a substitute to a real moving car. Six surfaces, the asphalt, concrete, wood, grass, ice, and sand, were used as the surfaces in the study. The observed results of the study can provide data on how different surfaces may affect the acceleration of the toy car.
Our research study is a basic research. It does not produce or create something. It just adds knowledge or data to an existing knowledge. Our study can help the transportation industry in terms of adding knowledge to the friction of different surfaces. It specifically contributes to the tire industry so that they can make a way that the cars can have greater acceleration on surfaces that have a big coefficient of friction.
The research used the six surfaces and the toy car as its main materials. The toy car was run through five meters on each of the surface for ten consecutive trials. The toy car just as running was captured through a video camera. The videos were then uploaded in the computer to be analyzed. The Video Point Software was used in computing the acceleration of the toy car.
After the experiment, it was found out that the toy car did not run in the sand, ice and grass surfaces. The toy car was too light to gather enough friction so that it can run. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used as the statistical treatment of the study. The concrete surface had the highest mean acceleration of 1.475 m/s2; wood had he second highest mean acceleration of 1.190 m/s2 and asphalt was the third with an acceleration of 1.020 m/s2. The concrete surface having the smoother surface had the greatest acceleration. The asphalt surface having the roughest surface has the least acceleration. While the surfaces, having no friction had no acceleration.
Based on the findings of the study, it can be concluded that the lesser the friction of the surface, the greater is the acceleration. The more the friction of the surface, the less acceleration will it experience. In addition, no friction would result no acceleration.
The researchers of the group recommend using a real car in doing the experiment. Because what we really used as transportation are real cars and not just toy cars. We also recommend considering the factors that may affect the study. Some of these are air resistance, tire used, and the battery.

Opinion of theFamily: Is it important?
Our family is the one to who we can lean on whenever we face problems and troubles. Specifically, our parents are the ones who brought us here in this world. With that, we are very thankful to them. But is it right that they are the ones deciding for our self? Every time we need some support, we always run to them. However, why do they always enter in terms of our decision?
Nowadays, we always hear children complaining that their parents are the ones deciding for their life. Be it on the course they will take up, on the outfit they will wear, on the kind of friends they should have, and most of all on the person that their children should love.
In my opinion, it is not correct that they will decide for us. It is because we were given by God own minds to think, own principle, own belief and we have different feelings. We can decide on what we think is right. I am not saying that we will not consult on them regarding our problems. But it in the end, it is still our decision.
Take for example, their comments on the person you choose to love. At present times, they used the physical appearance of the person as the basis for the girlfriend/boyfriend of their sons/daughters. They want that the girl/boy should be pretty/handsome. Some parents looked on the financial stability of the person. I really do not know why they are like that. Beauty is not important. It is the attitude of the person that matters most. If this incident will happen, it shows that the rich are just for the rich while the poor are just for the poor. And this not good. With this kind of problem, it is still their son/daughter’s decision in the end. I just hope that their children will not be influenced with their parents just because of those decisions.
All I can say is that the parents have their rights to say what or to give advices towards their children. But I do hope that they also know that they also have limitations in the field of decision-making of their children. I hope that they will listen to what their children’s views on things. They will understand and let their children decide for theirselves.

LOVE an act of will: not of the heart
Love is a very complicated thing. There are different factors that are connected when we say the word love. What is Love? Love is a feeling that only a feeling could understand. Is it an act of the will or an act of the heart?
In loving, you need to consider your heart and your mind. You need to balance these two things in order to love someone.
Love as an act of the heart. When we are in front of the person we are in love with, we always feel the different or the unusual beating of our heart. We can say that we are in love with that person. The heart, in a way helps us in distinguishing love. But, often times listening to our heart can give you heartaches and sufferings. I always hear people in love that “This is what my heart tells me to do, so I will do this for him”. The heart only symbolizes the word love. It does not necessarily mean it is the heart, which decides what it is right or wrong. If you will always follow your heart, it will come to a point that you will be foolish in love. You will do what your heart feels. You will do everything for your loved one even if it is not good already.
Love as act of the will. The will or the mind is the one acting in loving. It is our will to choose the person we want to love. Take for example when your parents do not want your girlfriend/boyfriend. It is for the reason that they do not want her/him because of her/his physical appearance. You will not say that I will choose her because I just feel to love her. Instead, it is your will to choose her despite what your parents want. But it is not always good to listen to your mind always. It will sometimes, make you do thing that at some point in time make you regret.
Loving someone is not easy. You need to accept the good and bad side of the person. In accepting the person, it is your heart and your will that is acting on it. Balancing your heart and your mind is very important so that you will have a good relationship with the person. The problem that most people in love faced is how to balance their heart and mind.
Always remember that loving is a good feeling. It can make you happy and contented.

how i want to be remembered
April 18, 2007 is fast approaching. This is the day when I will leave the portals of my beloved school. With the four years of laughter and tears I have shared with my batch mates, I want them to remember me as me; as April Rhiz Dichos.
As a Student. I want to be remembered as one of the talented students in our batch. Even though I am not the best in the field of dancing, singing, and acting, I know I have those talents. I also want them to remember me as one of the athletic persons in our batch. I did play many games during our intramurals from first to fourth year. Lastly, as a student I want to be remembered as a diligent and hardworking student. Even if sometimes I tend to become lazy on my school works like assignments, projects and sometimes studying, I still want them to remember me as a student who strived hard to become a deserving “ISKOLAR ng Bayan”.
As a Friend. In my four years in this prestigious institution, I have met many friends. I become one of the members of a clique. As a friend, I want them o remember me as a friendly one. I always make it to a point that I will get to know all of my batch mates. I always make it sure that I can be an approachable friend. I want them to consider me as their friend who is there willing to listen and to give advices to their problems. A friend who is always there in smiles and frowns that is experienced.
As an Officer. There is a saying which goes “With great power comes a great responsibility”. There is a big responsibility in me because I am one of the CWTS officers in our batch. As an officer, I want them to associate me with he words “as you were”. This is one of my favorite commands every time we are having drills. I am an officer with a very sharp voice, which makes some of the cadets, afraid of me. As an officer, I want to be remembered as a strict but a considerate and understanding officer.
As a Girl in love. In my stay in University of the Philippines, I have experienced heartaches and happiness in dealing with this very complicated thing called “LOVE”. Because of those memories, I can say that I become a better person ready to face all the challenges especially involving relationship. I want them to remember be as a girl willing to fight for her feelings and for her loved one. I am a girl who does not give up easily. Despite all the rumors I have met because of my attitude toward this thing, I remained to be a strong person especially in dealing with relationships.
Lastly, I want them to remember me as me. The girl always called “Halap” in the batch because of my vision. In addition, as a girl with the name April Rhiz Dichos.

Knowing April more
Hi! All these time, I have been posting different entries on my blog and still I have not post an entry about myself.
I am April Rhiz Dichos. I am turning seventeen this April 23. My parents are Arnel Dichos and Nerissa Dichos. Wonder where I got my name? It is from the month of my birthday that is April from my mother’s nickname, Riza. I am currently living with my loving family at Sitio Poso, Buhisan Cebu City. Physically, I am not tall. I am only 5 inch in height with a weight of 92 pounds. Every time I met different people, the always say that I have a chinky or chinita eyes. It sounds weird because I really do not know if I have a bloodline from the Japanese or Chinese. They say, that they can clearly see my emotions just looking at my eyes. When I was still a young child, I have very white skin. Now, I have a fair color of the skin. I spent my kindergarten years at YLAC Prep School and my elementary years at Cebu City YLAC Free School.
Let us now talk about my likes and dislikes. When I was still a little kid, I consider the color yellow as my favorite color. At that time, I definitely hate the color pink! Now, as a teenager, I love the colors blue, black, and pink. My favorite foods are beefsteak, sea foods like squid, crab, and shrimp and sweet desserts. I love the genre of music like alternative and love songs. In the local industry, I love the bands Parokya ni Edgar, 6 Cycle Mind and Hale. Internationally, I love the music of Evanescence and My Chemical Romance. I am an artist fanatic. If only I have enough time and money, I am very sure that I have attended the concerts and shows of my favorite artists. I love reading novels and books that is about suspense, mystery, and horror. As of now, I love the novels of Dan Brown and Mary Higgins Clark. I love to own cute dog or puppy. I really love dog because I believe that they are man’s best friend. Most of you still do not know this, but I love surprises! I like to be surprise even in simple things.
I am an athletic person. I have the skills in playing volleyball, soccer baseball, basketball, and softball. Music is also one of the things I enjoyed at. I know how to play some instruments like the banduria and the guitar. I also enjoyed singing and dancing.
I can say that I am not a plastic person. I really show what I feel. If I want to laugh, I laugh and if I want to cry, I cry. I stand on this principle that do what you think is right. I am the type of person who does not give up easily. I do not care what others say about me because I know cannot please everybody. I believe that doing what I want can make me happy. Besides, at the end, God is the only one who can judge me on what I am doing.
In loving someone, I am very sweet and caring. I always make it to a point that my loved one is okay and doing great. I am willing to sacrifice just for the sake of the person I love. Some of you might not understand or like me but I cannot do anything because that is me.
I hope I have shared enough information about myself to you guys.

Mr. Woody Wood Pecker
Mr. Woody Wood Pecker?!
That was the code name to him when I was still in my second year days. I will not mention his name because you already know him.
During my first year days, he was just an ordinary boy for me. I was not attracted to him at all. I had no chance to look or to make friends on him especially that he was from the other section. However, because of the English activity I had the opportunity to look and stare at him for a long time. I did notice that he was a “cute” person. He had chinky eyes like mine. I admit that I had a sort of what we called little “crush” on him. That was just our encounter during our first year days.
Second year was a special year for me. During this year, I notice him so much because of the way he dressed up. He really looks good on the any clothes he wears. Mr. Woody Wood Pecker was a Benton student while I was a Palma student. I had already a crush on him during August days. September days come and he courted me. Because of that, we often go home together. November 12, 2007 was our Athlete’s Night and this time I answered “yes” to him. I was happy at that moment. We often talk to each other and share to each other what happened at the end of the day. Most of this happens during my second year days.
Unfortunately, we lasted only 8 months. We broke up for some reason that only both of us know. This happened on our third year days. I can say that we had an on and off friendship. Sometimes we are friends but other times we are not. This year was the challenging part for me (I bet you all know why).
Now is our last year in high school. This was the continued year for the challenging part for me. I really had difficulty in moving on. I do not know why. Some of my friends would say that I should forget and not think of him. But I do not know why it was so difficult for me. Maybe there is this thing called “love” for him?! *Hehehe*
However, both of us were given the chance to continue the bond we have during our second year days. He courted me again and I answered yes to him again. Mr. Woody Wood Pecker is a very sweet person. He always makes me smile and makes me laugh. Right now, I can now assure myself that he loves me. Despite all those misunderstandings we have, I still enjoy being with him.
As of now, I am currently happy at his side. Maybe most you will call me a stupid person because I still enjoy his company and I am still there for him despite everything, but for sure, I know that you will understand me later on. I just hope that we can pass all the trials that our relationship will encounter. And we will be both strong as time pass by.

A Bigger Family
A Bigger Family
“God will definitely provide”.
June 27, 2006 was a successful day for the YFC leaders: Nico, Jann, John Paul, Christine, Richard, and I. We had our first meeting with those who are interested to join the Youth for Christ Club. We held our first assembly at the Tan room.
That day was a very big challenge for me as the president of the club. Our beloved adviser Madam Anabelle Maglasang was not present during hat day to assist and support in our meeting. Days before the meeting, we thought we cannot hold our first meeting because of several problems. The venue where it will happen, the preparation of the songs and the plan how the meeting will go about was some of our problems.
We started our meeting at exactly 5:00 pm. We were shocked because we did not expect there would be many students that will join the said meeting. I thought a few students would bother to attend because of the busy schedules. The total members of the group were 75! A very big number right?! We started our meeting with an opening prayer led by the club’s vice-president Nico Martin Eñego. After that, each of the officers was then introduce to the new members. Then, we had a fellowship game where I observed that all the students enjoyed. After enjoying the game, we started the teaching of songs. At first, the tone was difficult for them. They cannot sing it properly because they were still not familiar of the song. Nevertheless, they sang it correctly. Afterwards, we ended the meeting with a closing prayer or a\what we call as closing worship. We sang the songs that we taught a while ago. I like the closing worship because I thank Him for letting us have the successful meeting.
I can say that he meeting was a big success! Not all of us especially the officers of the club expected that the meeting would be that successful. We were so happy and blessed at that time because we believe that our YFC Family was filled with students who wants to serve God.
I am looking forward on our upcoming meetings to be triumphant. I hope that the next meeting, the number of new members will increased. In addition, I am hoping that during the praise and worship time, they will really feel the presence of God in their hearts.
Even if we faced different problems, the person up above provides us the strength and the will to do and continue our commitment to Him by serving other people.

The Attack that Prepared Me
“Show what you fell before it’s too late.”
This is the lesson I have learned during my summer break.
It was just an ordinary Tuesday morning, April 18, 2006 for me. I did not expect that there is something shocking that will happen. I went with m grandparents to the clinic of my grandfather’s doctor for his check-up. After an hour of waiting, the doctor told us that my grandfather would be admitted to the hospital. Such announcement was not so terrible for me. My grandmother told the doctor that we would just be back after we ate our lunch. Then, we went to City Grill to eat our lunch. I did no expect that it would be the last lunch that I will have together with my grandfather.
As expected, he was confined at the Visayas Medical Center. For the span of 2 weeks, we were very busy going to the hospital in taking care of him. It was the first time of the family to have a family member be confined for such a long time. Then, one gloomy night, his first attack came out. He vomited his medicine and a lot of blood. Doctors filled the room so that they can do something. During that time, my grandmother, parents, and aunties were already crying. Because of that, I already prepared myself that my grandfather will die. Fortunately, God gave him a chance. We were very thankful for that opportunity.
I celebrated my 16th birthday together with him in the hospital. Tears flow from my eyes when even he is having difficulty in speaking; he still remembered my special day. I cannot forget that special moment with him.
Four days after my birthday, he died. The sad part was, I was the last person who was at his side when the attack came again. Again, the doctors filled the room to make sure that he will survive. But, God’s will he left us.
I just cannot forget that incident because I loved my lolo so much. I admit to myself that there are times that I am so hardheaded when he calls me. I regret that when he was still alive, I did no even bother to tell him how much I care for him. Consequently, that incident taught me to show what I feel to the person I care and love before time runs out.

Introductory Speech
* This was my introductory speech during our public speaking class *
To all the congressional representatives and guess, Good Evening.
“Ignorancia legis non excusat”, a Latin phrase which means ignorance of the law excuses no one compliance therewith. Ignorance of the people with these laws is he impetus behind crimes. We often hear news about different crimes happening all over he Philippines. Because of this we need professional lawyers who are willing to educate the Filipino masses about the different laws in the Philippines. What I am talking about right now is in connection with our speaker tonight. We very well know him. His career has taken him through 25 years of study, research, teaching, and administration. As a graduate of Ateneo de Manila University College of Law, he became a good legislator assigned as the Speaker of the House. Aside from that, he has written numerous articles, scientific and popular journals like the “Legislata Extrema”, which is about the application of the laws in the society. As a congressman, he has promulgated more changes to the rules and regulations relating to different social issues.
Please help me welcome with a round of applause Congressman Byron Enriquez.

Why do I want to be a CWTS Officer?
What is CWTS? It means Civic Welfare Training Service. From the word service, I can already imagine that this is on how to help others and to become a good leader to my followers. Many values and principles are involved in becoming and in being an officer. These values include determination, respect, discipline, responsibility, and most off all leadership.
What is my purpose in joining the said organization? I have many reasons why I want to be a CWTS officer. I know that many activities will be involving that need a lot of strength. I also know that training me physically and emotionally will be there. Even if there are these things, I am willing to face all of these just to be an officer.
My first reason is to be more responsible. Based on the quote from the movie Spiderman, “With great power comes great responsibility”. As I have observed from the officers now, they are doing many things in school. If there are school activities, they are always the ones in charge of preparing the things like the sound system and cleanliness. They are responsible for the welfare of the students. I always see them wearing black shirts. Every Friday I also see them training their cadets. Learning how to march, holding the rifle, and raising the colors are some of the things a CWTS officer does. With the things that a CWTS officer does, a very big responsibility is clinging in it.
At the start of the school year, any of my batch mates got excited because they also want to be an officer. Many of them wants to be an officer, but when they start to have a grade lower than 80, they got discouraged because they know that they cannot qualify anymore. During that time, I have changed my mind no to apply because for the reason that most members of our clique cannot join. My parents do not want me to join too. Nevertheless, I have realized that I should apply because I definitely want to.
One of the values that I will also learn is to be a disciplined person. Obeying the rules is one factor to be a disciplined person. Through this, I can become a closely controlled person. I will stand by what I believed and what I think is right.
One reason why I want to be a CWTS officer is to gain respect. During my freshmen days, I often ask myself, “Why do the people wearing white shirts make a side step to those who are wearing black?” I eventually know now why. It is a sign of respect to their leaders. If they will not do that, they will have a demerit. I always imagined myself called as a “sir”. I strongly believe in the saying that I should respect myself first so that others will respect me. I is not easy to make someone respect you.
I want to be an officer because I aspire to be a good leader and a good follower. I want to help other people and get involved in community gatherings like outreach programs and others. I want to prove to myself that I can be a good CWTS officer.

National Women's Congress
* This was my speech during our public speaking class *
Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, Good Evening.
Today, March 8, 2007, is an important day for us women. We are celebrating right now the National Women’s Day. This is the day to commemorate the struggles of women for change, to celebrate the progress made towards the improvement of the quality of life of women and to reaffirm our commitment towards the liberation of women.
Nowadays, millions of women throughout the world live in conditions of deprivation and attack against their human rights just because for the reason that they are women. As a lawyer, I have met any cases regarding on the abuses of women. Abuses against women are now increasing because most of them sill do not fight for their privileges. Violence and discrimination are still very rampant due to the unawareness of the women’s rights violations.
We are now living in a world where women do not have control over what is happening to their bodies. Millions of girls and women are now forced o marry and have sex with the man they do not desire. This is one example of a women’s rights violation. Some women are unable to depend on the government to protect them from physical violence in the home, especially to protect them or save them from he increased risk of HIV/AIDS infections. Husbands and other male family members dictate women’s access to the right reproductive health care. Moreover, this is not a good idea.
When I went to South Africa, I have realized that the women here in the country are more blessed compared to the women there. Rural women in South Africa had the most difficulty in accessing education, health and other basic services. It can be seen because most of their husbands work in urban areas. Women in South Africa literally keep their families together while their husbands are working.
We are here today to fulfill its mandate of advancing the rights and well being of Filipino women. The National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW), in collaboration with the national government agencies, local government units (LGU’s), NGO’s, private sector and other institution who are taking care of the rights of women are leading the country’s celebration of the National Women’s Day.
As we celebrate the National Women’s Day, we acknowledge that we still have a long way o go to achieve full emancipation of women from the hardships hat they have experience because of their race, gender and social class.
Even if there are abuses of women, there are still women who have been taken care of well. This is because of he different groups of women who are willing to listen and defend their fellow women. One of this is the Gabriela, this is a women’s group on helping other women prevent different kinds of abuse. I am very much thankful to all the organizations that have always been there. This is a very good thing because this will encourage more women to speak up what they are experiencing. I do hope that this will continue.
To sum it all, I would like to encourage all of you here to help and assist each other on achieving our goal for he betterment of women.
Thank you and God Bless!

Gasa Sa Gugma
Do what you can do today and show to your loved ones how much you value and love them. This is what I have learned from our CWTS Outreach Program.
As an application of our CWTS project proposal, we went to “Gasa Sa Gugma”, a home for the dying destitute last February 2, 2007. We departed from the school at 2:00 pm and we rode a Kaohsiung bus. When we arrive there, the place was so peaceful and quite. Obviously, it is because old people are staying there. I saw different kinds of old people living there. Some were still very young, while others are so old. When they saw us, I can see some of their faces filled with joy and eagerness to see us. Some of them were acting just normal as if they do not notice that we were there. My friends and me met Lola Cecilia, she told us about her stay in the institution. She is very funny which made most of us got close to her. I admire her because despite her old age, she was very optimistic towards life. I also met a Lolo that I do not know the name. He said that he was a general from Davao. As we were talking, he always tells me that I should be good and I should be close to the sisters in the institution. I find it at first difficult to understand what he is saying because he speaks so slowly. However, later on, I have realized what he wants to tell me. After that encounter, I also listened to the different stories from other people and I have learned many lessons from them.
In my stay in “Gasa Sa Gugma” for 2 hours, I saw the sadness in heir eyes and faces because they do no have any families who will take care of them. As I watched them, I did not notice that there were already tears falling in my eyes. I just remember my grandfather who died last year. I realized that I missed him so much. I was not hat good towards him when he was still alive. I did not show to him how much I value him.
Seeing the oldies made me aware that, I should not let time go to waste by not showing to my loved ones how important they are and how much I value them.

When love dies...
Sometimes, love dies. And there is no easy explanation for it.
Some of us see it coming. Some of us don’t. but most of us try not to see it at all. Because it is easier to pretend that all is well rather than admit that your dreams have been shattered and you are let only with the broken pieces of your heart.
It hurts to imagine the person we love with someone else. It hurts to no longer be the object o his affections. It hurts to no longer be love be the center o his universe. It hurts to no longer be wanted. It hurts to be discarded, replaced and dumped unceremoniously like an old rag that has outlived its usefulness.
It hurts to no longer be loved.
But it happens everyday to the best among us – to the beautiful, the kind, the smart, the successful, the multi-awarded. It happens to the perfect wife, sister, friend and mother. It happens to the civic leader, the CEO, the cover girl.
Whether or not it’s something we did or didn’t do, sometimes love just dies. And over thinking serve no purpose.
To be loved is a blessing. But to no longer be loved is not necessarily a tragedy.
We’ve been raised since childhood to believe that love must last forever. And perhaps it must. But isn’t it possible to simply be happy for the love you have no matter if it doesn’t last forever? Isn’t it possible to simply savor the moment and become richer by it without wanting to possess it forever? Isn’t it possible to love and let go and love again?
Isn’t it possible to love forever but to love different people overtime?
It’s all right to no longer be loved. It’s all right to stop loving. It’s all right to mourn for love’s losses but to condemn yourself to a lie of misery because your love did not last forever is foolhardy. If love must die, let it go peacefully into the night.
But don’t keep score. Love is not a contest. It is not a competition to see who emerges the prettiest, the craftiest or toughest. Love is what it is – a git. It cannot be forced o anyone. Neither can it be forced out of anyone. So let it be.
When love dies, hold on to the memories. But let go of the one you love.

I got this copy from my friend in University of the Philippines College. He gave this to me last year when I was having a hard time in letting go of the one I love. I hope for the people out there who are having a hard time moving on, I hope you got something on this.

on being a teacher
How does it feel to be a teacher? If you are the one who is having a class?
For those who have experienced it like me, it is fun and at the same time difficult.
The Know Your School Day happened last Jan. 25-26, 2007. Every year this is celebrated to give the teachers time to sit, relax and enjoy. It is also an opportunity for the students to experience being a teacher.
For the past three years I have been always a teacher. So I also decided to apply in becominga teacher this year. I become the Computer teacher in our section. I did not have any lesson to do because Ms, Avergonzado forgot to discuss to me the lesson I amsuppose to give to my classmates. So she decided that the class will just do the cyber fair project. I enjoyed the time in becoming the computer teacher because I had the chance to use the computer used by our teacher. I did not do anything at that time. I just announced to them the deadline for our cyber fair project. Then when it was already time, my experience being a computer teacher ended.
I was so thankful for giving me the chance to be a teacher. I have realized that it is not that easy in handling different kinds of students. It is not easy to be a teacher because they need to communicate with the students whether they like it or not. They are responsible for teaching us the right way. They are also the ones who are helping us shaped our future. I admire the teachers for being so patient on us. They served as our second parents and like our parents they want us to be in good direction.
To our teachers, thanks for everything. . .

.trust.
Trusting someone is not an easy thing to do. You have to be sure that the person is worth it of the trust you are willing to give.
I have experience something about this trust thing. And I am willing to share it to you.
I am assuming that all of you already know who my special someone is, right? He is the happy-go-lucky guy who in a very different way makes me happy and makes my day special. I am not going to tell you about our story because I am going to reserve it on Valentines Day! *laughs*. But instead I am going to tell you about something I have realized.
It happened last January 31, 2007. At the start o the day, I already feel that he is not in a good mood. So I was thinking that maybe he has some problems. I found the right time so I asked him if he is okay. He answered me by saying that he is just depressed. After that, I made up my mind that I will just go with the flow. This means that I will not approach neither talk to him first until he will be okay.
Afternoon came and we were still not having the usual communication we have. I just let it pass by thinking that it is about his studies.
We had our meeting in YFC Club. Then our adviser read a note which is about love. It states that love protects, love TRUSTS and love preserves. When she spoke the word trust, she turned to me making most of the people there to look at me. I was so conscious at that time which made me did something knowing that he is there. I was afraid that he will be mad at me. When we are about to go home, I said sorry to him for not trusting him wholeheartedly.
With that incident, I have realized that if you choose to love a person, you should not have any doubts on that person especially on the love he is giving. You should learn how to trust him because you know that he loves you. But you should also be sure that at this point in time, the person is already worthy of the trust you are giving him.
There is one thing I promised to him, that I will try my best to let myself be secured with his love.

the problem with men/women is...
Men and women are two different individuals. At some point in time, both cannot get along well. There are certain differences about each of them, which results to misunderstandings.
The problem with women is that...
Women are impulsive. They usually decide on things without thinking about it many times. If they feel on doing something, they do it without any doubt. Women do not usually think of the consequences that might result to their actions. Being impulsive is an effect of being easily carried away by their emotions. What they feel in a certain moment affects their decisions on things.
Most women are self-centered. In a relationship, most women want to be the center of the men’s world. They always want to be notice and be appreciated. Because of this attitude of women, they sometimes do not allow their partners to do things, which men normally do. This is because women want that men will focus their time on them.
Another problem with women is that they complicate simple things. They think too much which in turn causes them to hurt their selves. Specifically, they give different meanings on a thing, which a guy does. They always have this “WHAT IFS” on their minds. With this kind of thinking, most women do not believe on what men tell and show them.
The problem with men is that...
Men are good flatterers. They always tell you things that would flatter you. Sometimes they are telling you these flattering words so that you will not feel bad. Most men are having this kind of attitude. They used this so that girls will feel “kilig” on them.
Men do not show what they really feel. They hide what they feel. Most of them considered crying as something making them less man. If they have problems, they just keep it to their selves, even if they know that there are persons who are willing to listen to them.
Sometimes men become so insensitive. They sometimes do not care on what the girl is feeling. We often call this in our language as “manhid”. They tell you things, which for them does not mean something not knowing that it is already hurting the girls’ feeling deep inside.
Men are sometimes unfair. They do not give importance on what you are doing. It makes you feel like you are not important to them.
With all of this problems men and women have, both of them should not forget that this differences will change. As long as they know how to understand and adjust on each other, it will not be difficult for both of them.

GOD has another plan for me...
This is my first time to post on my blog. Unfortunately, this first post of mine won't be a happy one. Yes! It's true. I am not feeling any good right now. I just want to cry and cry all over again. Maybe to some other people out there, I am just over reacting on this stuff. But, I cannot stop myself from the feeling down and depressed. This thing that I am talking about is my failure in the University of the Philippines College Admission Test or what most people call as the UPCAT. This test was taken last August 2006.
I just got the good news from Mdm. Maglasang that the UPCAT results are now online. I let most of my classmates know about it by sending them the message through text. I was very excited because I want to know if we are higher in the percentage passing from the last batch. I was very open on the results that it is either I will pass or fail the test. I just told myself that it will be okay for me if I fail because I still won't be studying in UP College.
But, as of this moment, two of my friends told me that I failed the test. They said that they were very sorry for the bad news. Obviously, I told them that it was okay, that I am feeling good about it. But when I have learned that there were only nine of us who did not make it, The feeling of being not affected was gone. It is not because we were only few but it is because I have realized that I failed in one of the most prestigious test. I do not want to let my parents know about it! I do not want to face the teachers knowing that I am one of the few persons who failed the school. I am afraid to face my batch mates because of this reason! Maybe I just cannot accept the fact that I failed.
As what Dan said, maybe GOD has another plan for me. He just want me to learn something that is why He gave this challenge on me. Maybe Dan's right, all things happen for a reason. After all, I have learned that I should study and work hard, right?
